Meeting with the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC, Mr. Simon Stiell

On July 24, we proudly hosted Simon Stiell, the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC, at NAMYO headquarters!

The meeting highlighted NAMYO’s dedication to empowering youth and ensuring their voices are integral to climate action. Discussions focused on NAMYO’s recent initiatives and the crucial role young leaders play in driving forward ambitious climate policies.

The event commenced with opening remarks from the Chairperson of NAMYO and Youth Climate Champion for COP29, Ms. Leyla Hasanova. Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and COP29 Lead Negotiator, emphasized the need for enhanced global cooperation in tackling climate change. During the meeting, Mr. Simon Stiell praised the energy and innovative ideas of young individuals, affirming the importance of supporting youth and giving them a platform on the international stage.
