"Concept of non-alignment vs. collective defense: NAM perspective" by Mr. Gaya Mammadov

On July 15 Mr. Gaya Mammadov, Director of the Political-Military Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, delivered a lecture on “Concept of non-alignment vs. collective defense: NAM Perspective” at the headquarters of NAM Youth Organization!

Moderated by the Chairperson of NAM Youth Organization, Mr. Ordukhan Gahramanzade, the lecture focused on the processes giving impetus to the formation of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) including the military polarization arising at the height of the Cold War. Mr. Mammadov touched upon the foundational Bandung Principles guiding NAM today and their exceptional role in the maintenance of international peace and security. Bringing together 40 participants, the lecture also included discussions about the role of NAM Youth Organization as a cross-cultural platform fostering youth participation in public policy discussions.

The lecture ended with an interactive Q&A session where participants were offered a chance to address their questions to Mr. Mammadov and exchange thoughts about the topic.
