Meeting with Mr. Samed Ağırbaş, COP31 Climate High-Level Champion

NAM Youth Organization hosted Mr. Samed Ağırbaş, COP31 Climate High-Level Champion, at its headquarters in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The event began with opening remarks by H.E. Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who underscored Azerbaijan’s continued commitment to international climate cooperation and the importance of inclusive multilateral dialogue in addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate change.

Following, Ms. Nigar Arpadarai, Member of Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan and COP29 Climate High-Level Champion, highlighted the growing role of civil society engagement in supporting ambitious climate policies. She emphasized the importance of empowering younger generations to actively contribute to climate solutions and global sustainability efforts.

The meeting continued with a session titled “COP31: Road to Antalya" delivered by Mr. Samed Ağırbaş. In his address, Mr. Ağırbaş placed particular emphasis on the impact of youth in addressing contemporary climate challenges, noting that youth-led innovation, advocacy, and collaboration are increasingly shaping the global climate agenda.

Held in a hybrid format, the event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which NAMYO members and NAMYO National Chapter representatives had the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers, exchange perspectives, and discuss opportunities for enhanced youth participation in climate action.
