Model NAM Simulation Conference


With the support of the Azerbaijan Youth Fund, NAM Youth Organization held a Model NAM Simulation Conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev at Baku State University. Dedicated to the topic “Digital Divide and Access to Technology: Examining disparities in digital access and discussing strategies to bridge the digital divide, ensuring equitable access to technology”, the conference brought together students from various universities.


The opening ceremony began with the speech of Mr. Shahin Panahov, Vice-rector for International Relations at Baku State University. Then, the Deputy Director of the International Security Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Mr. Samir Bejanov, greeted the attendees and emphasized the crucial role the conference will play in developing the diplomatic knowledge and skills of young people. The opening ceremony concluded with the speech of the Deputy Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation, Mr. Orkhan Arabov.


The conference continued in the format of plenary sessions. Young people who played the role of foreign ministers of different NAM Member States actively exchanged ideas and proposed solutions to the digital divide between developed and developing countries. During the sessions, they discussed digital technologies and their accessibility, which are at the center of many public policy fields. Following the plenary sessions, the final document was adopted.


The conference ended with the closing ceremony. The participants were presented certificates and three participants distinguished by their participation were awarded the “Best Delegate”, “Best Journalist” and “Best Debutant” awards.
