The second edition of the NAM Youth Week officially commenced today in Baku Convention Center, marking the beginning of an event dedicated to dialogue, cooperation, and youth engagement in global affairs.
The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks by Ms. Leyla Hasanova, Chairperson of the NAM Youth Organization (NAMYO), who emphasized the importance of NAM Youth Week II as a flagship initiative aimed at empowering young people and strengthening their role in shaping the contemporary global youth agenda. She underlined the value of youth-led platforms in fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and international cooperation.
The program continued with a keynote address by H.E. Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In his speech, titled “The Role of Diplomacy in Addressing Contemporary Global Challenges amid Growing Uncertainty,” he shared valuable perspectives on the evolving international environment, the importance of diplomacy in promoting multilateral cooperation, and Azerbaijan's policy posture and key foreign policy priorities in a changing international system.
Following the keynote address, participants were introduced to the work and progress of the NAM Youth Organization through a recap video showcasing its key activities, milestones, and achievements to date. The video provided a comprehensive overview of NAMYO’s journey and set a strong foundation for the discussions and activities planned for the week ahead.
In the coming two days, more than a hundred local and international participants will continue engaging with policymakers, diplomats, and experts through panel discussions and interactive seminars, contributing to meaningful exchanges on current international issues.
