On June 23-24, NAM Youth Organization's National Chapter in Mali organized a Model NAM Simulation Exercise!
Held in the city of Koutiala, Mali, the simulation centered on the topic of “Floods, water scarcity and the SDGs". The two-day event brought together 12 brilliant minds to brainstorm improved water management plans in the pursuit of sustainable consumption of water as enshrined in SDG 6 “Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”. Young people worked in three committees to shed light on different aspects of the issue, including challenges brought by climate change and innovative initiatives against water scarcity.
The resolution passed in the exercise offered a holistic approach to ensuring universally safe and affordable access to water. Reduction and prevention of pollution of water resources, knowledge-sharing on best water management practices, and expansion of open dialogue policy between decision-makers and socially vulnerable groups were indicated as key suggestions for achieving accessible water supply for all. Congratulations to our National Chapter in Mali for the successful completion of a simulation exercise on a significant issue!
