Launch of the NAMYO Research Center Fellowship Program

On March 6, we officially launched the Research Center of the NAM Youth Organization!

The event aimed to present the Research Center and its Fellowship Program as well as bring together young researchers and subject-matter experts to the presentation, critical discussion, and exchange of innovative research ideas by young scholars from the NAM Member States.

The event began with introductory remarks by the External Affairs and Research Center Coordinator, Ms. Sama Baghirova. Then, COP29 Lead Negotiator and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev greeted the young scholars and experts and wished them success in their research endeavors.

Mr. Rafiyev noted that the NAMYO Research Center is a valuable platform offering academic research opportunities for NAM youth.

During the event, two articles and a research proposal prepared by the Research Center’s young fellows were presented and discussed. Taking into account Azerbaijan’s presidency of COP29, the Center dedicated the years 2024-2025 to the topic of climate action.

The event ended with the concluding remarks of Ms. Leyla Hasanova, the Presidency Youth Climate Champion for COP29 and the Chairperson of NAM Youth Organization. L. Hasanova stated that the Research Center will create a fertile environment for critical discussion and intergenerational dialogue, as well as provide conditions for young researchers to contribute to global scientific research.
