Opening ceremony of the NAMYO Research Center

On May 27, the official opening ceremony of the NAMYO Research Center established in collaboration with the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA), was held at the NAMYO Headquarters in Baku!
The event was moderated by Ms. Sama Baghirova, Coordinator for External Affairs and the Research Center. The ceremony began with a speech by Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Lead Negotiator for COP29, who emphasized the Center’s role in strengthening the scientific and technical capacity of young researchers within the Non-Aligned Movement.
The program continued with a keynote address from Ms. Vladanka Andreeva, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, who highlighted the importance of youth participation in sustainable development and knowledge exchange.
Ms. Leyla Hasanova, Chairperson of the NAM Youth Organization and COP29 Youth Climate Champion, underscored the Center’s mission to transform youth ideas into knowledge and amplify their voices on the global stage. Following her remarks, Ms. Kamilla Mammadova, Manager of the Research Center, presented its key focus areas and annual action plan—particularly in the context of COP29 and sustainability priorities.
The ceremony proceeded with the symbolic ribbon-cutting, marking the official launch of the NAMYO Research Center. Guests then toured the research facilities and library, gaining insight into the Center’s resources and vision.
The event also featured the launch of NAMYO’s official website, providing digital access to organizational updates, research programs, and youth engagement opportunities.
